Brain Busting Blogging

  • Blogging was a hurtle, I half ass made it, not that trying was in question, it was becoming comfortable with the experience
  • I honestly did not enjoy the experiences; I found myself  becoming envious of others well put together blogs; today I had just learned to edit!!!
  • However painful it was creating Blogs, I enjoyed reading others. Everyone was open enough to let others into their lives, be it pictures of their homes or cars.
  • As an assignment Blogging seemed to be more of a chore especially in such a short semester  if this was a voluntary choice it may have been a bit more fun.

To MR. Nielson Instead Of  Blogging Perhaps A Essay
However Thank You For The Experience

I Crave A Hike...

We all have cravings and I have not been able to fulfill my needs in weeks. These past weeks have been full of holiday preparation, finals and Jam time at work, and all I need is a hike.
My body feels withheld from oxygen, muscle relief and peace of mind, everything a hike may bring. Our weather is perfect and the birds are chirping, this is the time of year all the beautiful birds come to thrive and the sun doesn't burn. it is hard to get to nature in the city, it is nature which brings a calm to the stressed and makes one think that they can overcome anything like our animal and plant friends.
Cheers to all, for over coming the Holidays and our English 102 class!!!
Hiking is great for the soul!

Whoever Controls the Media, Controls the Mind -Jim Morrison

Media has never been my forte, I don't like to sit for too long and I cant stand the computer or the phone.
Our Class involvement with the Media has been effective in my everyday life, the films we saw in class sparked lots of emotion. Medias rule our world from fashion to political beliefs. I now only look for the slant in the news broadcasting and the  masculine white male image that dominates American movies and magazines.

The Media now seems totally one sided governed by the rich and powerful who only want to expose the people to what they want. The information obtained in our lectures and videos promotes concern for our society, the fear that all we have is image, and our minds are loosing individuality. "The man" doesn't want the people concerned with the reality of America he wants us distracted with fear and unattainable social image.
This was a great topic for College students and in time hopefully to maintain our unique Freedoms we will pull together and exterminate the control Media has in our lives!

My Friends if any of you are Beatles Fans and have not already heard of this Sunday morning treat, you must listen!
Even if you are not a Beatles fan 100.7 the radio station dedicates 2hours every Sunday to playing songs some have never heard, many you have but they have been revised, and the most enjoyable is recorded interviews of the band speaking their minds.
Over the years Breakfast with the Beatles has brought to my attention how much influence The Beatles have had in music. Some of the old recordings produced very depressing, and angry tones like one has heard in lots of grunge. Rock and Roll  hit the mainstream with The Beatles as there front Man.
The radio show starts at 7am and ends at 9am with all the encourgment GIVE IT A LISTEN!!!

SG#2 Share a Shower

We all have heard that water wont last forever I can think of a few movies with the same theme. So lets start now, teach the kids teach yourself make a difference in our World. millions of people would give a leg to have the water usage that we are granted and it is a crime to take advantage of that. Here are some way to start conserving.

-Just by turning off the tap while you brush your teeth in the morning and before bedtime, you can save up to 8 gallons of water! That adds up to more than 200 gallons a month, enough to fill a huge fish tank that holds 6 small sharks!
The same is true when you wash dishes. Turn off the tap! Scrape your dirty dishes into the trash- then put them into the dishwasher.

-Taking a shower uses much less water than filling up a bathtub. A shower only uses 10 to 25 gallons, while a bath takes up to 70 gallons! If you do take a bath, be sure to plug the drain right away and adjust the temperature as you fill the tub.
To save even more water, keep your shower under five minutes long—try timing yourself with a clock next time you hop in!

-Pee in the shower

-Water Your Lawn in the Early Morning or Evening

so the water doesn't evaporate before the plants can absorb it!

AE#2 Slanted reporting

How about, everything has a little slant. The Media; Radio, T.V., Movies and Sporting events have to have their own image view and or opinion. The Media is a multi-billion dollar industry all personal are hired upon looks and ability to follow direction. These forms of entertainment are forms of tricky subliminally attacking the viewers psyche, they are forms of control. I think it is very important to limit your mind to the slanted nonsense. This is an article http://edit911.com/2011/01/beware-the-slant-the-slippery-slope-to-perdition/  which talks of CNN slanted reporting and breaks down what the broadcaster is saying and the underlying intention of the words, it is just a thought, try to obtain other information from numerous sources before forming an opinion.

AE#3 Double Edged Sword

The way to a students heart is less class, ASU's idea to condense some classes seems to be appealing to the extraordinarily busy student. More power to the person who can handle the fast pace and jam packed agendas. The comments of other students seemed to focus on the financial aspects. Some believed the shortened classes should cost less.
I see this from both sides, the cost should be less because less classroom time, which means less instructor one on one attention and overall shortened everything. However the other edge of the sword is that the same agenda must be completed as in a normal semester class and thought the students are working twice as hard so is the instructor.
I feel the option should be there and if the school charges full price there will be students that will pay, so of coarse the school will charge full price. there should be a discounted cost but that will never happen, and even if time is not on your side a fast paced condensed coarse should be given deep thought. my experience,  it is stressful and seemed to be no room to breathe. To each their own and good luck to the students embarking in the challenge.

AE#4 Equality

Stand up to the Government was the major feeling I experienced while watching Moore's film. There was a deep depression strangling my heart throughout the movie, the working class has always been beat down, subliminal messages for years have told the poor their no good; once a thug always a thug, so to speak. Movies always depict the poor as dirty, uneducated, depressed, and forgotten, and every once and a while a kid makes it off the streets and becomes a magnificent football player, sure. However the film lays out the life of the working class, survival. In no way are they uneducated, dirty, depressed, or forgotten the people are family orientated  full of common sense and will to live life. Every dollar is spent before they get it, the families of America are not born into money, have no one to lend them a hand or to bail them out of a crisis.
The people of the working America need to to band together and educated one another to become a community. Communal Gardens, Carpooling, discount grocery shopping, keeping monthly utilities down. Physical education for the children, stay out of trouble  in the film children are sent to jail for such lengths for such petty crimes, if the child was wealthy they would have a lawyer and never spend a day in jail. Our judicial system is supposed based on equality, then how come the members of congress and wall street and the super companies  destroy lives of the folks that make less and never see a day in jail but one man or woman of a certain economic level can steel bread then suffer jail time, loose freedom, gain a criminal record, and their life will never be the same.
It is the system which allows the rich to dictate and keep the poor down smother any chance for success. A article on MSNBC's webpage by Rev. Vivian Nixon talks about criminal records for peaty crimes keeps the people "locked in poverty." Nixon states, "However, it becomes more complex when we consider the Pew Center’s 2008 finding that nearly one in 100 adults in the U.S. is behind bars and the National Employment Law Project’s estimation that nearly 65 million U.S. residents have a criminal record on file. This leaves them vulnerable to employment discrimination based solely on a conviction, no matter how long ago it occurred. What makes a lot more sense is a national ban on previous convictions inquiries until after an applicant has been deemed otherwise qualified." There needs to be a Revolt, not violence but we need to join together get rid of Washington and become the true land of the free. America has amazing capabilities we need to realize this needs to be done together and not one american should be suffering if individuals are flying on private planes.

SG#3 The Squeeze

Feral Cats

According to altered tails-a not for profit spay and neuter clinic in phoenix  420,000 kittens is the amount of offspring cats can create within 7 years.  Maricopa county's homeless animal problem has created a unnecessary world of abuse and sadness for these lost animals. Spay and neutering you pets is the main control in animal homelessness.
If anyone has seen the news lately there were a group of adolescents that abused and killed stray kitten for the reason it was scratching them. These cats are so rampant in the community to kill one in these young boys eyes was no different than breaking a toy.
There are many options to prevent feral cats from taking over. Obviously spay and neuter, and a ever growing amazing help is the (TNR) Trap Neuter and Return. it is a  humane approach to aid in the spread of feral cats, they can provide the traps the cats are caught and released back in the neighborhood. Also if you are able to catch a feral there are many non-profit origination's that will have events and the spay or neuter is free of charge , a great non-profit is MVP Most Valuable Pets Mvp Inc. they travel all over the county aiding families  who cant afford the  cost of surgery.
Aid is needed for these non profits and we need to teach the children that these outdoor cats have been here for thousands of years and to take one from their community will only make it worse.

AE#1

Well friends hear it goes, Blogs really have no importance in my life, if they do to you I mean no offence, however I would rather have a conversation with a person than stare at a computer. The Google blogs were confusing the formatting gave me no direction.
The Linkedin blog had a bit more direction and seemed to have a greater flow. Last was the Weblog blogs awards page I found it to be more pleasing to the eye, the style was simple creating a better experience, the colors were well done.

Entry #1, The Beginning

Good Day to all!
My name is Harmony Lofland, for those in my class this is a repeat...
I am a Southern Californian native, born and raised by the beach and hopefully will return to the ocean once again. Within the next year my goal is to be employed as a Fire Fighter, any State will due. To be a paid Humanitarian has always been my dream. I have a simple way of life,  I love to Bicycle, indulge in tasty beer and wine, and explore the beautiful Arizona. The past four years I have accumulated  six Dogs and five Cats, all rescues! I truly believe there is a fire hydrant around with my address stating, "For a good time go here!"  I look Forward to meeting all,
Cheers!
